بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Linguistically, sunnah means a way or path. In technical terms, it refers to the trodden path of religion, or more specifically, the path of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Allah سبحانه و تعالى says in the Qur’an,
“Say, ˹O Prophet, ˺ “This is my sunnah. I invite to Allah with insight—I and those who follow me. Glory be to Allah, and I am not one of the polytheists.”
[Qur’an 12:108]
This verse can be understood in light of the Prophetic sunnah.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said,
“Hold onto my sunnah and the sunnah of the Rightly Guided Caliphs after me”
[Sunan Abi Dawud, Sunan at-Timirdhi, Sunna Ibn Majah]
