بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Allah سبحانه و تعالى‎ is Qadim and Baqi. These attributes can be translated as being pre-eternal and eternal

The textual proof for Him being Qadim is:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,

“First of all, there was nothing but Allah, and (then He created His Throne). His throne was over the water, and He wrote everything in the Book (in the Heaven) and created the Heavens and the Earth.”

[Sahih al-Bukhari 3191]

The textual proof for Him being Baqi is:

Allah سبحانه و تعالى‎ says in the Qur’an,

“Everything is bound to perish except His Face [Himself]”

[Qur’an 28:88]

The rational proof for these attributes is:

P1: If He were contingent, He would require a creator

P2: If this creator were contingent, it would require a cause

P3: An infinite regress is impossible

C1: Hence, He must be Pre-Eternal

P4: Pre-eternality negates any form of non-existence

C2: If He is Pre-Eternal then He must be Eternal
