بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

Shaykh Sa’id Foudah said:

“The disconnection between the contemporary generations and more than ten centuries, including the scholars and the immortal scientific legacies, and the precise research in various ‘ulum and funūn. It is not hidden what this neglect of the Ummah’s efforts entails.

Weakening the stance of contemporary generations in their confrontation with the intense campaigns mounted against the Islamic religion because of the disconnection of contemporary generations from the scholars of Islam in previous centuries, and preventing them from drawing from them and relying on them, results in a great weakness in the scientific level of the contemporaries, which we see with our own eyes in many scientific fields.

The artificial rupture between the present and the past results from disparaging the Aqa’id of the Majority of the Scholars of Islam. This undoubtedly leads to the destruction of trust in them and to doubt their knowledge of the sciences. Whoever loses his past is without a doubt going to lose his present and future.

The rush toward declaring others as Kūffar and Innovators for every dissenter produce immense psychological effects and intense intellectual doubts about everything that has been transmitted to us from those who preceded us. The least of these effects is a feeling of psychological isolation, which may drive the weak, and most of those who adopt this stance, to follow extreme and strict methods in their dealings with others.

There is no doubt that these effects and results necessarily occurred among those who adhere to them because they neglected to differentiate between the Qat’iyyat and the Dhanniyyat in Aqa’id and Fiqh. They treated some Dhanniyyat as Qat’iyyat and did not believe in some Qat’iyyat, thus contradicting them. All of this arises from intellectual methodologies that are dominated by significant flaws.”
