بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

The Imam, may Allah have mercy upon him, said:

“The scholars, may Allah be pleased with them, said that Allah was pleased with them due to their obedience to Him, and they were pleased with Him because of what He honored them with and granted them of goodness and pleasure.

Pleasure (ridā) from Allah, the Exalted, is the bestowal of goodness, benevolence, and mercy, so it is among the attributes of actions (sifāt al-af‘āl). However, it also carries the meaning of His will (irādah), so it is among the attributes of essence (sifāt al-dhāt).”
